The final stop brought the students to 1980. They’ve been taken to the halls of Peachyville High School. They witness a couple of White girls talking by their lockers. They are interrupted when one of the girls is approached by a Black guy in their grade. He walks nervously up to the girl, and asks her to go to the prom with him. Immediately after, the girl looks at him in disgust and says “no.” He walks away from her in distraught. One of the friends asks “why did you say no to him?” and the girl responds “I don’t know it doesn’t seem right, plus my parents wouldn’t want me going with someone like that.” Super Word interjects on the situation and asks the students “what was wrong about this?” One student asks “did she not want to go to the prom with him for the way he looks?”
